Soo Line Station
Title:  Soo Line Station
Description:  The Soo depot at Shawano. Though the building was in decent shape, the CN took it down in the not too distant future from the time of this photo. I would presume it was a financial burden with out any return in usefulness, so it went to cut costs. It would have been a nice piece for a historical society, though I would imagine, the CN would have wanted it moved away from the right of way, for safety (insurance) purposes.

Two Rivers Spur Track Bridge Over the Soo Line
Title:  Two Rivers Spur Track Bridge Over the Soo Line
Description:  Built in 1896, this intricate bridge crossed the Soo Line in Manitowoc as the C&NW went to Two Rivers. The Soo R.o.W. came off the bridge seen to the rear, and came straight under this C&NW bridge on it's way to the Soo yard. The track curving off to the left from the Soo Line bridge connected the Soo to the C&NW.

Chicago & Northwestern Bridge over Soo Line Right of Way
Title:  Chicago & Northwestern Bridge over Soo Line Right of Way
Description:  The CNW Two River Spur Track had this interesting bridge over the Soo Line right of way into Manitowoc. The Soo ran straight under the bridge, where the track connecting with the CNW was the one that runs off to the right. From this point, the Soo rails are out of service, with no connection to the outside world. Satellite footage shows some of the rails still exist within the private confines of some of the industries in town. This bridge is dated to 1896, and the spur track had a maximum weight limit of 210,000 lbs. (CNW Timetable No.6 effective Jan. 1 1984)

The train is still in the Neenah sub on the north end of the former Soo Line yard in Neenah. Winneconne Avenue overpass is seen just to the rear of the train. CN Bridge
Title:  CN Bridge
Description:  The CN replaced the CNW swing bridge during 2012 and 2013 with this bascule style bridge. The old bridge was much more picturesque but this new one opens and closes much quicker, allowing for more efficient flow of marine and rail traffic. It is still amazing to see that some boaters still become very annoyed at having to halt their pleasure trips up and down the river between Lake Winnebago and Lake Buttes des Morts for a few minutes as the trains go through. The view is of the east side of the bridge, looking up the Fox River.

CN 9473
Title:  CN 9473
Description:  A CN Neenah / Menasha local switch job in what is left of the former C&NW yard in Neenah. Forest Avenue is the grade crossing to the front. The St. Thomas Episcopal Church steeple can be seen in the distance. The buildings in front of the church are apartments. The apartments and the Gree space to the right of the train were once a Firestone and a Food Queen business, respectively. The building on the left is Forest Island Warehouse, which still gets a fair amount of rail traffic. I have read that they do a lot of warehousing for the paper industry, Neenah Paper in particular.

IC 9571
Title:  IC 9571
Description:  Crossing over from the former CNW main to the former Soo Line main on the south side of Neenah. The train looks like a typical set for the run to Waupaca Foundry with scrap and coke loads. Perhaps the cars are destined for the local Neenah Foundry just a couple hundred yards from this location. I didn't have time to find out.
