CNW Swing Bridge
This old CNW swing bridge is still in operation spanning the Fox River navigational canal. This bridge is located on the east end of the "flats" area that used to be heavily industrialized. The area now has few industries left and is becoming redeveloped with apartment housing and some trendy new establishments. Although there isn't much work for the railroad down here anymore, the line remains open so the CN can get to industries served on the south side of the river in Appleton, Kimberly and Combined Locks.

T. P. Bruss General An interesting old bridge even when there isn't a train on it. 2/11/2014 4:04:34 AM
Kevin Gumm General Agreed, T.P. Even more interesting is when the stubborn old bridge refuses to close and lock into place. Many times I watched as the train would wait -- sometimes over an hour -- for the CN crew to get the darn old thing to close. It seems to be a daily battle. 4/15/2014 2:47:37 AM
