CNW Bridge Over Silver Creek
On the east side of Ripon, the CNW crossed Silver Creek at the mouth of where the creek expands to become the Gothic Mill Pond. Silver Creek was dammed around 1854 by Ripons founders to supply power for their mills. This part of the CNW ran from Fond du Lac through many small communities to Wisconsin Rapids. Between Fond du Lac and Wisconsin Rapids, only the small portion in Ripon is left in service. The portion between Rosendale and Fond du Lac is a nice recreation trail.

Dave Howarth Jr. General It's great to see a section that once carried CNW service from times gone by! I actually know a fellow who once worked for CNW and he complained quite often about the condition of the tracks between Ripon and Fond du Lac and stated that ya had to hold on for dear life as the rocked back and fourth for miles. 5/3/2014 7:26:00 AM
