GTW 6228 |
Description: |
A CN local crosses the Fox River in Menasha on former Milwaukee Road/Soo Line right of way. The bridge in the foreground crosses the navigation canal to Little Lake Buttes De Morts. The island formed between the Fox River and the navigation canal still has some rail served industry. There are very interesting track arrangements on this island too. |

Description: |
A view down the old Milwaukee Road right of way from Menasha to Appleton shows the 6228 switching the Orbis/MenashaCorporathon plant on Earl Street. The view is from Menasha toward Appleton, there are currently four businesses with a spur on this line, north of the "wye" in Menasha. The wye is now missing it's north east leg and this line no longer goes to the Appleton industrial flats. The right of way now ends at R.R. Donneleey (Banta) on the north side of Midway Road. |

GTW 6228 |
Description: |
After switching the Orbis/Menasha Corporation facility, the local returns towards the heart of Menasha thru the St. Mary$s Cemetary. Ripley's Believe It or Not once had a piece about this being the only cemetary with a railroad running thru it. I wouldn't know if it is true, but I never saw ancther with rails. Oddly, the right of way was Milwaukee Road, which is now passed away also. |
