Description: |
The number of sand facilities and the number of car loads they put out is almost staggering. This is a short look into the Superior Silica Sands at New Auburn. There is much more to the facility than this shows. Twenty years ago, who would have guessed sand would become such a valuable commodity to the railroads, outside of insiders that were aware of the fracking potential for oil. |

Description: |
Green Bay to Stevens Point train caught running through the fromer CNW Appleton yard. As usual, a second unit is on the rear of the train. The placement of the second unit on the rear allows the CN to avoid a run around move at Neenah. This method was brought into practice by the Wisconsin Central after it bought the FRV. |

About 2/3rds through the yard, the Green Bay to Steven Point train crosses S. Perkins Street. The end of the yard west of S. Perkins isn't used as much as the end to the east, but there is usually a cut of cars over there. |
