CNW Ancillary Yard
Looking back towards the small yard at Combined Locks from Kaukauna side of the line which followed along the Fox River to Kaukauna South. This small yard is used to switch the Apvion (Appleton Coated Paper) mill located in Combined locks. This end of the line from Appleton was a very busy location which also served another large paper mill in Kimberly along with a paper coating manufacturer. The Kimberly mill was bought and closed by foreign investors making traffic here, not as high volume as it once was. The line along the south bank of the Fox has also been cut just a couple hundred feet behind the camera vantage point. Kaukauna is served from the former CNW main between Appleton and Green Bay.
