Southern Bridge Abutment of CN Fox River Crossing
Looking generally east along the shore of the Fox River in Oshkosh at the south end of the CN bridge across the Fox River in Oshkosh. The grade crossingat the end of the bridge is for Pioneer Drive and the bridge signals are visible. The bridge has a Bascule lift to clear the navigational channel in the middle to clear the waters for boat traffic. The CNW had a swing bridge located here that was built in 1899, the old stone work can be seen on the lower, obviously older, part of the abutment.
