A CN tank train speeds along behind Bal Fab Services as it heads south through Lomira. The heavy duty structural steel and cable fence was put in after a 1997 derailment to protect the factory building and those inside. On 23 November 1997, the Wisconsin Central Ltd. had a derailment through here. Two cars crashed through the wall of what was then Kondex Corporation, unfortunately, this claimed the life of one factory worker, and injured others. Kondex Corporation has moved to a location away from the tracks on the northern edge of town and is still in business. |
