CN 2839 |
Description: |
A CN train heads railroad east across the E. 14th Avenue grade crossing in Oshkosh. Five units are on the head of this train running on what was originally CNW right of way along Lake Winnebago. The trains roll through Oshkosh at speed up to 35 MPH, thanks in part to a grade crossing sfaety and reduction program in the 1990's. This program came about as the city citizens hoped to eliminate the use of train horns and open up blocked grade crossings faster. This seems to have worked out fairly well, though Oshkosh still has it's share of train-pedestrian accidents. |
