A train is crossing over off the Shawano Subdivision onto the mainline of what I believe to be the Fox River Subdivision to pick up a cut of at least fifteen pulpwood and woodchip cars off the siding at Stroebe in the Town of Menasha. I am uncertain if the CN still refers to the line to Green Bay north of Neenah as the Fox River Subdivision as my information shows the Wisconsin Central had. |

CN train running reverse elephant style crossing over fro the Shawano Subdivision onto the Fox River Subdivision mainline. Once clear of the turn out for the siding, the train will back up into the siding to pick up a fairly long cut of pulpwood and woodchip cars from the siding at Stroebe in the Town of Menasha. |

The CN train crossing over from the Shawano sub onto the Fox River sub has made it onto the siding and must continue until the rear is clear of the turnout from the Shawano sub. Once clear of this cross over, the train will shove back to pick up a cut of woodchip and pulpwood cars. As cold as the weather was, this move took a while to complete. I hope the crewman on the ground was able to stay warm. |

The Canadian National switches the General Chemical facility in Menasha, WI. The industrial spur this is located on was once used to serve the Gilbert Paper Company mill in Menasha. Gilbert Paper was served by two spurs, the other spur came across from the other side of the Fox River, through U.S. Papers and served Gilberts and Banta Corp. Some of the cars spotedd at Gilbert Paper on that spur were on a trestle over the water. Milwaukee Road, Soo Line and Chicago and Northwestern could all be seen on the rails in this paper producing area prior to 1987. |

IC 3138 pulls a tank from General Chemical, near the foot of a water tower. This spur also used to serve Gilbert Paper, which is now torn down. The Gibert office building can just be made out at the top of the yellow handrailing. The large brick building to the rear is one of the Banta Corporation facilities in Menasha. After R.R. Donnelley purchased Banta, they closed this facility. |
